How to get your house sale ready
Selling your house can be tricky in today's market, but there are a number of things you can do to get an advantage over other sellers. Here are a few tips on how to get your house sale ready...
Rent a storage unit
The first thing you should do is rent a storage unit. When it comes to furnishings, a few select items are best for presentation. It is also important to clear the house of personal items like hanging pictures and ornaments, which can subconsciously put sellers off. Remove any sentimental items and place them in storage. This also gives you a head start in packing your things away.
Do minor repairs
Now that all the clutter is out of the house, you should do any necessary minor repairs. If there are cracked tiles, leaky taps or doors that don’t open or close properly, now is the time to fix them. It's scary how easily minor problems can be spotted by potential buyers.
Clean and clean
Now it is time for a deep clean. You don’t want people walking into cobwebs or seeing carpets that need a good vacuum. The aim is to make the place look and smell like new. Daily vacuuming and dusting is important, as is airing out the house to get rid of any lingering odours.
Take care of the exterior
Now the house is clutter free, repairs have been made and it is squeaky clean, turn your attention to the exterior. First impressions last and the outside of your house is the first thing potential buyers will see. If you have grass that needs cut or litter in your driveway, you won't be off to a good start. A lick of paint on the front door can also work wonders!
