How to pack for a moving

Moving is stressful and the key to save time and avoid damage is packing the right way. With these tips you will learn how to pack more efficiently

GET THE APPROPRIATE MATERIALS AND TOOLS

Get enough boxes. Uniform, clean, strong and in different sizes. You can buy them or try to get them for free from your local supermarket or bookshop. It is useful to keep the boxes from your tv, washing machine or online shops if you are going to move soon.

Get masking tape, packaging tape, and garbage bags. Bubble wrap and paper are useful for cushioning delicate items. You can use old clothes or fabrics as well. And always have scissors or a knife with you.

LAST TO PACK- FIRST TO UNPACK BOX

There are some essential that you will need the last days in your old house, and you will need them for the first days in your new house, like clothes, toiletries, electronic chargers, scissors, and some kitchen essentials. Prepare a box or a bag with those items and you will always know where to find them, instead of opening all the boxes looking for a specific thing that you need and can't find.

DISTRIBUTE WEIGHT ACROSS DIFFERENT BOXES

The small ones are better for heavy items like books or shoes. If a box is too heavy it can break. Also mix heavy items like jars with light items like cushions and pillows.

COLOUR CODE THE BOXES BY ROOM

You can use coloured masking tape, stickers, or anything on hand, but make sure it is visible. Also put some tape of that colour on the door or entrance of the room. It helps the movers or anyone helping place the boxes in the correct room, and it will be easier to pack all together and unpack by rooms.
